Hey guys I am building a 408 for my 96 ram. I am using a 5.9 magnum block and intake. I bought a set of engine quest heads. My cam is a comp cam custom grind .512 lift int. and exh. (with the 1.6 rockers (stock)) Comp says that they want to use a behive spring with that cam and have 125lbs. at 1.8. My vaulves that came with the heads are about .200 short of that. And they are 8mm-5/16 valves. We think that we may have found some spings to work with the stock valves and get the right preassure but they are not behive. My question is will the stock magnum rockers hit these spings. Any help with this valve spring situation or suggesitons would be great. Thanks. (btw i hit some key while typing that put this in italics and now i cant get it back and yes i tried the button on the screen)

Hughes Engines (http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/index.php) has some different beehive springs that might work. Be real careful on the lift with standard valve stem seals. You are getting real close to hitting with the retainer and possibly coil bind depending upon the spring you choose. Installed height needs to be checked to see what you are dealing with.

does anyone know if you have to use behive spings with stock magnum rockers or can you use standard sprngs.
