408 timing

-
I run 18 degees initial and 37 total. That 's probably too much for sea level as I live at 4000'. You will probably need only 35 total. Full advance by 2800

I run my 390 at 14 initial, and 34 total. All in by 2500.

Depends on the build. A pupm gas, tight quench, closed chamber deal might like only 30 total. Most are in the 32-34° total range and 15-18 initial.

20 initial and 34 total.......I think I am all in by around 1800. Specs of engine under members photos. Run this on the street with 10.6 CR with eddy alum. and 93 octane. No complaints.

Pump gas 410 here and I am at 32 total about 14 initial all in at 2000

Cam shaft duration plays a large part in initial timing, quench and combustion chamber design plays a large part on total timing as does fuel octane, engine temperature, fuel ratio and engine load.
Having said that my 422 liked 18 initial 34 total all in by 1800 rpm, oh and 52 with vacuum advance maxed and engine temp at 165. 3.23 gears and overdrive. I pulled 21 MPG on several 300 plus mile trips.
