I don’t like eBay, they take close to 15% ultimately at the end of the month on sales.
No luck, correct. I’m trying to figure out a fair price that’s why I set it at “buy it now” or make offer.
Do you have some guidance, on the 850 or the 1000?

Carter Thermoquads ~ 'More General Information'

Everyone, thanks for the inputs. I’m absorbing all the info. Sounds like I’ll be opening it up this weekend to look around.
I’m open to any reasonable offer.

tell you what, call around and get quotes on rebuilding this carburetor by qualified people.

then price a strip kit which is the tuning kit made by carter that is out of production that you need to tune it to your specific application where ever you are racing. this is a racing carburetor.

then compare it to the cost of other racing carburetors on the market today with easy to get parts to tune it.

consider that fuel injection is quickly becoming the choice over carburetors.

what you have is a dirty turd that was once the most advanced racing carburetor on the planet, be it that it was expensive and time consuming to tune, that may never run again because it true condition is unknown. it just may be that the phenolic resin fuel body is warped or cracked beyond repair. do the mixture screws actually turn in and out? dont force them, they will bust off. and if anything is missing, where will you get those parts from?

how much would pay knowing all this?

if this carb was in the box new old stock or was rebuilt in working order with a guarantee, then you might have something of value.

about 350-400 to have it rebuilt..
strip kits look to be advertised at like 300 bucks lately on ebay.

anyone can clean up and put a kit in a carburetor. who is going to put it on your motor and dyno tune it?
Does it need to be dyno tuned?
Answer, No.
What makes you think the OP or future buyer can’t do it?
I'll give you $100.00 USD apiece for the 4846s and the 4847sa.

and they will go on the shelf with the rest of my thermoquad collection.

OUCH! Insult!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its a racing carburetor, how would you tune a racing motor?
Really depends on the person. Such quotes ring in the back of my head....

The drag strip is my dyno
Dyno numbers are just for bragging
The tune changes at the track (and day to day)
I don’t have money for a dyno
The drag strip is much more fun than a dyno
I can do it myself (with or without an 02 sensor)

buy it if you like the price, $100.00 USD is what its worth to me.
True, any item is only worth as much as one is willing to pay for it.
the true insult is the stupid price I see on stuff for sale on FABO.
No doubt no doubt! E-bay is even worse.
MoPar gold.........

PM sent to OP

Guys, I’m sorry I opened up the can.
Everyone has made great comments.
Ok I get it, I’m a little wacky on the pricing.
Trying to find happiness for seller and buyer if there is one.
I’m going to pull apart the 1000 to check inside.
