I just brought my 6.4 hemi to life, using Joe Gibbs racing oil 5W-50 non synthetic weight break in oil. Oil pressure at idle at temperature is about 75 pounds, isn't this high? What should it be?

Your good, I worked for a Olds Cadillac dealer and a 4.0 and a 4.6 had 100 + psi cruising at speed and about 60 to 70 at idle. Don't see why a Hemi would be any different.

50 is a little thick for that engine. drop it back down to 5w20 if warmer climate but not no 5w50. 0w is for colder weather 5w is fine for most climates but canada.
the 50 is for loose clearances like old school engines. a 6.4 wont like it and eat crap up quickly or wash the bearings out of it cuz it cant escape.

My 392 uses the stock 0-40 oil. Oil pressure at startup is 70 then it races down to 40 at idle. These engines need the light weight oil for the oil injectors.

Thank you Peter, I filled the crankcase with Gibbs 5-50 break in oil for start up. But it will be out soon in favor of the the 0-40w oil

Do the new Hemi's have oil injectors that squirt on the bottom if the pistons ?
