/6 spark plug question

When installing new plugs in a /6 . Should you remove the little crush washer on the new plug????? I have never done this and have never heard of doing it before.

We learned to remove them on a 426 hemi, after the washers chewed the tubes up ! But we changed plugs a lot back then.
