I might be picking up a63 valiant for my daughters first car.
Do they make a retro fit shoulder/seatbelt for these
Also will a 904 transmission bolt in if necessary
Anything else to look for would be helpful
Thanks for the help

2 door, 4 door sedan, or hardtop ? If sedan with a post you can install shoulder belt with a little work into the post frame. Hardtop, if you can find it on line (I did several years ago) they sell a kit to install the belt bracket into the metal top of the rear door panel.
Is it a stick ? If so you can install a cable shift vintage 904 or a pre 1968 904 and a aftermarket shifter. The early cars up to 67 have a smaller crank register for the snout of the torque converter. Also after 65 they went to a slip joint yoke from the ball and trunnion that the 63 has now so a drive shaft change will be needed.

If it's a sedan their are kits for seat belts. I read an article about 5 years ago about someone retrofitting seat belts with shoulder belts into early a sedans. On the trans I assume it has a 3 spd manual If it still has a small hub crank in it a 66-67 A904 is about your only option. Then you can use an aftermarket shifter. If it has a 68 or later engine then your choices are wide open. If it is a push button auto I would repair it and run it and save yourself the headache of removing and fixing all the original controls. Also if it already has a 68 and up engine and you use an early A904 trans make sure it has or get the bushing for the crank to adapt a large hub crank to take a small hub converter. Yea Darter6 is correct on the driveshaft.

You can get a torque converter it has the early fewer spline innards with a newer style case it has the bigger snout for the crank register. Or if using new motor and dont wanna mess with cable shift or 3 on the Twig ...just pick up a late model auto transmission with a floor shift, cable style.
