I'd say this is a Valiant only badge. The Valiants didn't need the latch opening because you could reach through the grill to open the hood?!

64 and 65 Valiant are different. I think 64 and 65 barracuda are the same as the 65 Valiant. The 65 Valiant and 64-65 Cuda are thicker than the 64 Valiant, and have the cutout in the lower edge for the hood release.
