64 slant front crankshaft seal

Hello all,
Looking for some help with timing cover oil seal. 64 dart slant 6 (225). I have the new style seal and am unsure which way it installs? Removed old seal, new style looks as though it could go in either way? thank you

Interesting, but can't help since I never heard of this. Please post photos when you figure it out so we'll know what old and new styles look like.

I will try to find pics of old style, (with retainer), and new 1 piece "modern" type seal.
Looks like a "tap in" trans shaft seal. I am assuming, (uh oh), that the flat side goes down into the recess, on the inside of the timing chain cover? But not positive.
