Hi folks!

I'm searching for a (maybe rare) '65 Commando throttle cable bracket. Should look like this one:

Additionally I'm looking for a fuel line like this here:

If you have one of these please let me know via PM!

Thanks a lot!

If you have tubing bender you should be able to duplicate that line.

I have a 4 barrel (to be used on the 4 barrel conversion for my 65 Barracuda) and a couple of 2 barrel throttle cable brackets. I'm thinking the 2 barrel ones might be able to be cut, rotated and re welded where the cable attaches and lengthened to match the 4 barrel bracket. The 2 and 4 brackets are definitely different in length or height.

@65 Dartman Yes, if I can't find this stuff anywhere there's no other option than building it by myself. If you have such a clamp maybe you can give me the angles and dimensions to make one?

@66fs I'm doing a 4bbl conversion with original (Commando) parts.

@brian6pac Sorry, but this seems to be a standard 2bbl clamp. The one I'm searching bends to the other side and is a bit higher.

I was going to tell you to use a 340 bracket which is readily available. If you can't find an original one, I made a drawing of the part you are looking for.

Here's a pic I just took comparing the 2. They both have pretty much the same angle at the bends. The 4 barrel bracket is about 1/4 inch long after it makes the turn from where it bolts to the manifold. And of course where the throttle cable is secured is a mirror image from the 2 barrel bracket. I might try and modify one of the 2 barrel brackets and see what happens.

Thanks for the picture! The differences are very clear to see with it.

Just so you know, to correctly clone a less than optimal build is not a good plan in my opinion.
The correct throttle pressure linkage for 65 model will not have a free throttle return slot at the carb. It can and did cause hung throttles / runaway vehicles.
The OEM fuel line holds the fuel filter horizontally above the intake. This increases fuel percolation issues we have with todays "cornolene", not to mention the vapor pocket held in the filter.
These engineering flaws were corrected in later models.
They moved the bell crank up onto the intake rather than have it dangle off the back of a head. It aint going anywhere if the bolts back out. Bell crank and throttle cable clamp became 1 part. More important was the added free throttle return slot in the linkage.
The fuel filter was mounted vertically beside the water pump. It will be totally filled and cooler there.

All you have to do is put a slotted end on the link and the correct stud on the carb and keep the rest O.E.

Ya, I would, but time consuming, so it would be cheaper to find one!

Generally I'm with you but in this particular case I would like to do the Commando conversion as close to the original as I can.
