I am trying to figure out how would you replace the driver side mirror on a 65 Cuda? Mine is currently snapped in half but the wire is holding it all together still I have another mirror ready for it but I cant figure out how to get the blasted thing off the car to replace it! Any suggestions?

2 screws on the base. can you not see them on the outside? Is this a remote when you mention a wire?

there is a screw (outside you can see) and a Stud inside the door or I have a 66 that has no holes for screws showing, but does have a stud inside the door and it gets undone and the mirror lifts to clear the stud and slides forwards off a metal tab that holds the rear of the mirror on (or was it the front, i can't remember it has been so long).
