Why do some darts have white or red reverse light lenses?

Can the lenses be changed independantly of the housing?


I started looking at mine today, but didn't pull one because the gaskets looked to be in bad shape.

Inner lights(on the trunk lid)should have the white centers for reverse.Gaskets can be had of off E-bag for under $20.Good luck.

You mean the inner lights on the body would be white. It was an option for 65, not all cars had it.

Interesting. When did DOT make white the standard reverse color?

Backup lights were optional so they had both types that year. The lenses will swap out. The backup lights were in the outer lights on the body, not the lid. The cars without backup lights had plugs in the taillight housing, no wiring or sockets, and no backup switch so all that would have to be installed to make them work.
