65 Vin plate.

I've had two '65 Barracudas that had a VIN start that way. V for V8 Valiant, 8 for Barracuda, 5 for the year 1965, and then the plant number 2 for Hamtramck 5 for LA. Both had that faint V8 stamp from the front side, and the typical reverse side stamps for the rest. Looks completely normal to me.....except for the rivets that is....

Going by the data shown from posts above it looks to me like a 1965 Belvedere based Taxi, from the Delaware plant.

Seeing pics of other tags, it looks legit IMHO.

If it has a fender tag, see what number is under the letter B. I 'think' 1 means 273 two barrel and 2 is a 273 four barrel.
Not in 1965. AB is the engine code. 30 under those letters is a 273 2bbl. 31 is the 273 4bbl. In '66 the codes are one number higher respectively.

It's on a 65 you say, Al? That's odd with the 5 digit in position 1 and too few numbers.

The "Vehicle No." makes it feel like a recreated tag?

This off of that Barracuda?
Both my 65 Barracuda's have
vehicle no on the plate. 64 doesn't.w

Both my 1965's have it. 1964 does not.

I don't know what you mean by that. The plates shown are the official VIN tags for both years. That number is nowhere else on those cars.

I thought it was an 8 but the FSM did not show an 8 as an option in 65 for Valiant so I thought maybe its a 3?

Note: it shows 4 as Barracuda
Also the FSM (which are never wrong  ) shows "2" as Detroit not Hamtramck

Mike, where are you getting your info?

I'm not arguing so much as trying to understand why the FSM would be incorrect on these points

I'm no expert but the rivets and the 525 to start looks to me like that VIN tag was swapped from a 1965 Dodge.
