Found another project about 1 hr away. Communication has been hit and miss, but title is clean, missing grilles, dash, front seats rear tailings and chrome. I do need to go check it out. Looks fairly rust free but have to inspect. Clean title, current registration. Says it is running, but also says it has a 340. Does have the fender tag, and came with 273.
They are asking $3800 Basically what I see is what I get. In So Cal. Any advice on what to offer is appreciated.

I would crawl under the drivers side an look for proof on the side of the block that it is a 340. If they are pushing that as a selling point they think that makes it worth more.
      No 340 = -$750

Lot of missing, could be expensive-to-find parts in which case I would offer maybe $2500 if it’s rust free

It will need to be striped to bare and start over on your body work. Check for 340. Makes a difference. Missing parts? best to buy a complete project if you can. Buy a runner or pay less.
Looks like high to me, but I am cheap.

That's missing lots of parts. You'd be in it for far more than you could buy one done. Or just buy a nice driver. Just my .02

That is true for most projects! My fun is in the build, then when done I drive it for awhile then sell it and look for something new or trade it for a rare or more desirable project, like maybe a Vert formula S 383...someday!

Agree with 65 Dart man, lotsa parts missing means lots more money and time invested in your project. Think of it as a good body and every thing else will have to be repaired or replaced.

That thing got raped. Many of the one year only parts were pirated. I’d pass personally. $3800 would get you much closer to a running, driving and more complete project.

If it’s 100% rust free then I’d offer $1000. Im not sure you can match a 67’ 340 to the car. Correct me somebody if I’m wrong. If it’s a real “S” car $1500. Then pass it along to the east coast and get paid for your time spent.

Problem is IF buyng a project be knowlegable and be prepared for the time and work and $$ involved. I hope this is not your first rodeo.. A solid driver is usually for most guys a better choice, than a don't run, have to piece it all together car.

Not my first rodeo, have done a bunch of VW's, picked up a 64 valiant convertible project to get back into Mopars. I do everything myself except paint and body.

Then it all boils down to if you are happy with a total project, and hunting the parts for it. You understand the time frame, the amount of work and $$ the parts hunting, all before it is a worthwhile car on the road.
I see so many people buy a project and 10-15 years later it is still not on the road, or they take it all apart and sell it for pennies on the dollar of what they paid to start with!! I know, life gets in the way.
I have owned many since mid 80's, in general, I bet you are OK to give that $1800. If you can do the work, and enjoy it, and that is the car YOU want, I say, giver her Hell!

Is a 67 Barracuda like a 67 Dart with one year only steering parts?

I enjoy hunting for parts, it's what I do on the vw side of things. But been out of the mopar game since I sold my 70 cuda about 15 years ago, so that is why I'm getting others opinions. I always look and try to compare what's out there and where its located, and be ready to jump when a good deal comes around. If this isn't a good deal at $2200 (that is the lowest he said he'd take) assuming its rust free, then I'll keep looking for another 67 to 69 barracuda project to come around. If I get my harley sold then ill get a better project!

The car is over 50 years old. IMHO if it has a rust free body with only minor dings and scrapes, the body is worth $3800 these days!

There was another 67 on Portland craigslist ( have family in Oregon and Phoenix AZ so I scour there ads too)
orig /6 column shift that he started taking apart to put a rebuilt 340/727 combo in but he wanted $8k, which seemed way too high. for $8K I can get a decent 383 formuls S Project.

Payed $300 for a half stripped roller for my son and i to redo a number of years back 2014. Its been in storage for quite awhile. A lot of swappin, tradin, buy n sellin. Finally rolled it into the shop on saturday. I am at this point as of today. Got 75% of whats needed to restore it. I do my own body n paint as well as everything else so its no biggie. Not into it for much coin so far with everything i had to buy for it, and i have all the 69 specific stuff. Patience is key when looking for parts. I always tell myself there will always be more parts deals. If i miss out on something, something else always comes along. First pic shown is as purchased minus front suspension. I didnt get a K frame or lower arms with it either. Its a frankenstein LoL. Even gonna get a 1974 318 in it lol.

What we find available is ironic. One has very little rust but missing soooo many parts, while another has all the parts with rust included too. Since most of the 50 year old parts need restored or replaced anyway, the smart way might be to buy both cars, build one, then sell off all the leftovers. You recoup a lot of the cost of restoring grilles, new bumpers, etc.., etc...
The downside is where they are located. One within walking distance, the other, a perfect candidate, on opposite coast. Good luck to all.

Number 44? Must be from Reggie Jacksons car collection. That'll be $33,000.
