i recently bought a 67 Dart with tubular upper control arms don’t know what brand but they need new ball joints is it a easy fix or not ? how do i replace them ?

A picture of the arms would be pretty helpful. But almost all of the tubular arms for these cars come with either the standard small or large factory ball joints. And installation/removal is the same as factory.

The SPC genII UCA’s are the only ones I’m aware of that use a non-factory ball joint.

ok on a 67 Dart do the ball joints screw in ? i have owned quite a few 64 Plymouth B-Bodies and they screw in

Yes, the factory ball joints screw in. But a ‘67 would have small upper ball joints from the factory, and most of the tubular UCA’s use the later large upper ball joints. But some are available with the small ball joints, so your current ones could be either size depending on what tubular UCA’s you have.

if it matters the 1.92 is the diameter of the screw in ball joint

There are 2 sockets made for Mopar ball joints, one for the small ball joint and one for the large ball joint. I've found that in the tubular upper arms they are much easier to replace than in the OEM arms.

Yours looks like the small socket, but I'm not sure. Look at "ARES 12111" socket set, it has both sockets and an adapter to go from 3/4 drive to 1/2 drive.

Skip the parts store their Chinese garbage and get old-stock, North American made.

I've had good luck with these folks. If you click on the "Add to Watchlist" button, in a couple of days they'll probably send you a promotional code for a bigger discount. Sometimes the parts have a little "shelf wear," but they're perfectly functional old-stock parts for good prices compared to new.

Both the 1964 Fury and 1973 Duster call for 2298534 for the upper ball joint. Same for the Moog PN K772. What matters, among other things, is the diameter of the threaded section of the body, not the size of the socket (pipe wrench) needed to remove it.

Get one of the ball joints out, and measure the diameter of the threaded section. Just ask, I'll be happy to provide any measurements from a NORS Moog K772 you'd like. Check to be sure there aren't any welds securing the ball joint to the control arm before you start reefing on it.
