68- 340 worth?

68 -340, stock bore, X heads, ex. manifolds, just pulled from car.
Most likely needs a rebuild as it has been sitting for some time.
Whats it worth?

To someone restoring a car #'s matching it could be worth big $$$$. I would say to the right person it could very well be worth about a grand. Was it running when you pulled it? If so and you had some sort of proof and to its condition when running that could only help with the price. To the rest of us it is a $300 to $500 dollar core.

I don't want to buy a 340 I want them to go the the resto guys. But if I was going to buy a buildable core that is how much I would pay. Thats why I deal with the 360's. They are cheaper and there are more to be had.

'68 motor---does that mean hi-po exhaust manifolds? Big $$$ right there. X heads--$$ What can you buy it for? If it's buildable,IMO a grand would not be too much.

With the heads and exhaust manifolds $1k is too low. Again this is considering the bores aren't rusted, etc.

$700 for all...its worth more to someone wanting to do a 340 resto..but if its not a "original engine" to the car or going to a FAST racer or someone that really needs a 340 its not worth as much..I mean IF the 340 in the Dart Sport ever went south and was not rebuildable...id just go 360 cheaper,get just as much HP,easier to find...you know what I mean...I mean look at even heads these days...since all these aluminum heads came out that flow as much as most PORTED iron heads...those ported Iron heads that 10 years ago were going for $1000+ you find now for $500 becuase for $1000 you can get aluminum thats even better....find a 340 specific guy...a guy that WANTS or NEEDS the block and you will get your BEST deal...its worth more to him.

I sold a 72 340 with the worong heads and intake in need of a rebuild for $900. A 68 will be much more to the right person. The exhaust manifolds are about $400 and a used set of X heads will go for about the same so theres $800. I would say $1200 is possible if its rebuildable.
