68 Baracuda tans swap????

Mine came with a 318, 4 sp. I am thinking of swapping in a 5.9 with auto trans. Will a auto trans fit? Which one should I look for? I will be wanting 500hp tops, and would like one with over drive if possible. All opinions would be appreciated.

If you are going to go with the tranny behind the 5.9, you'll need to do some tunnel work. If I were you I'd keep the 4 speed but I'm sure you have your reasons. I'm pretty sure you can buy adapter plates to put a 700R4 behind it but that, to some, would be sacreligious! Easiest thing to do would be to go with a 904 or 727. Overdrive in an a body is neither cheap or easy.

My other car is a 63 ford fairlane and i put a 5speed tremec in it. just tried of shifting is all really. just want to be able to cruise and relax, but be able to kick some butt if need be...lol..
