I thought they should be but they are marked 1/2 R/H T as are the ones on passenger side. Maybe it's common for LH studs to get changed over the years?

I'd say very possible changed by a PO.
I changed mine on my 67.
Changing to disk brake up front made it an easy choice.

there you go - this one has discs in front as well -could have been similar thinking. Anyway, wanted to be sure what's there so I don't go wrenching the wrong way some fine afternoon. Had a 63 Valiant way back when and learned the hard way.. I see you are in Cleveland - any local clubs /events you've checked out? I'm in Lake County

I think LH studs have L stamped in the end?

Left hand studs for an A body are no longer available, and yes, left hand studs have an "L" stamped in the ends. Many of these cars have had the studs switched over to right hand thread over the years. What is bad though is that in some cases a broken left hand thread stud has been switched to right hand thread and the other studs left unchanged. Before making the change over, make sure you can get all the right hand studs you need for both front and back, and possibly a new front drums since the front drums have the studs pressed in place. You may find that front drums are difficult to find as well.

The original studs were swedged into the drum hub assembly. The studs were often destroyed in replacing the drum(s), so replacements purchased were all right hand. My red 67 still has all OEM parts there. When I go to a tire store I have to make sure their tire jockey is made aware, Left hand threads on left side.

L on the stud end fine for re-installing nuts but no help when you are looking at some acorn nuts covering up the ends and wondering which way to crank..
