Seats out and having new foam and cover done, now to replace dash pad and replacing the small instrument panel lights, (194) size, I think. Any tricks on removing the dash pad, I have the better one that has 4 nuts included with it, any special tools needed, or lots of patients?! About the instrument panel, does the steering column need to be dropped or just unscrewing the trim screws and the control knobs to heater defroster enough to drop the unit to reach behind and change the bulbs? Thanks for any info...

lots of patience and several variations of tools for the size of the nut. i like using a 1/4" ratchet and 12 point sockets.

it's easiest to drop the column and remove the steering wheel.

you'll need the dash fully out to get the dash pad off.

ETA: for clarification, by "dash fully out" i mean the instrument cluster, not the frame itself.

Drop the column for sure. I've removed dash pads without removing dash frame, but you will invent lotsa new cuss words.
Make sure seats and console are out as well. Be better if you know a cute midget in a skirt.
