1968 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S Fastback
Up for sale is an original #’s 383 4-speed (1 of 553). Nut & bolt rotisserie restoration. A street car with many subtle internal upgrades. She still maintains a stock appearance- giving it that stealthy attitude. Everything functions as it should.
gauges were calibrated by Redline in California, Legendary int., restored rallye steering wheel, new quarters & trunk returns, radiator support & inner fenders (had fenderwell headers BITD).
425 HP/ 450 Ft.Lbs. Contoured frame ties & Hemi torque boxes. The stock engine parts are boxed up, factory build sheet & fender tag included. Serious interests only. $36,900. PM me here for more details & pics. Located in Sun Prairie, WI
Engine-
original #’s block .030 & zero decked 10/1 comp. ratio. Original #906 heads- CompCams springs (good to 625 lift), 10deg. Locks & retainers, stainless valves and hardened seats. Diamond forged flat-tops, Comp XE275HL (231/237@50 & .525 lift), Edelbrock D4B intake; aluminum water pump, BHJ balancer; 7qt. pan w/ Milodon pickup/windage tray; Schumacher Poly-lock mounts; Fel-Pro gaskets.
Transmission-
#’s matching 4-speed & bell- new snychros and gaskets; upgraded Hurst shifter mated to stock early ’68 Inland shifter; McLeod RST clutch & pp; 3” DOM steel driveshaft w/ 7690 joints
Exhaust system-
Mopar HP manifolds- A-body right side & B-body left side- much better flow over stock (that chokes out 40 hp). Relocated Z-bar to accommodate Accurate Exhaust 2-1/2” headpipes, turbo mufflers & TTI 2-1/2” tailpipes w/ stainless tips.
Suspension-
Front- Factory 383 torsion bars & sway bar; C-body 11/16” tie rods and sleeves.
Rear- Mopar XHD leaf springs w/ poly bushings; 8-3/4 housing narrowed slightly & widened wheel housings to fit larger wheel/tires. #489 case- rebuilt w/ 3.55 gears & Sure-grip unit; Dutchman racing axles w/ 3” studs. Wheel Vintiques 15x8 rear on 275/60/15 radials; 15x7 front on 215/65/15’s
Ignition & Charging System-
Firecore Ignition wires- black w/ orange plug boots; MP recurved 383 electronic Distributor w/ correct tan cap; FBO Ignition module w/ built-in adjustable rev limiter; Pertronix Coil; FBO electronic VR; Mopar 78A alternator; Mopar mini starter; Mopar yellow-cap battery
Fuel System-
Edelbrock AVS 650 cfm carb, Edelbrock HP mech. fuel pump; New tank w-3/8” pickup & lines to carb; “correct” Mopar fuel filter
Brake System-
Mopar master cyl., steel lines, T/A prop. valve, 11” Dr.Diff front discs, B-body spindles; new B-body 10x2-1/2” rear drum brakes & hardware
Cooling system-
New Glen Ray correct 1968 Radiator #033 & date coded to the car; factory shroud, spacer & Mopar hoses w/corbin clamps; new heater core.
