Was looking into purchasing this 68 valiant inline 6. Owner says it makes a tap or a thunk when turning the wheel. Any ideas of what that could be? Thank you in advance

Easy to check, grab the top of the wheel and rock it back and forth, listen and feel to/for clunks. If it has a sway bar the end links and supports could be warn out or missing. Jousting the front end could recreate the clunk, Turning the steering wheel back and forth a few degrees and look and listen for clunks
