Aloha,

This is my first time posting to any forum anywhere, and I don't know anybody, so I just picked some names from the members lists...so lets see if I've done this right...

About 6 months ago I picked up a rust free 69 2 door Dart Custom, slant 6, auto, 9" brakes, small rear end, 51,000 original miles, 4" steel plate rims, dog dish hubcaps, only accessories power steering and a radio, not even a heater, that had sat for many years. Spent a few months going thru it a got it going, underpowered, but runs well, the wife call it Miss Daisy. 2 weeks ago I picked up a 74 Scamp rust bucket at an auction for $250, 318, auto, 10" rear drums, discs brakes up front, larger bolt pattern rally rims, that a young Marine had just abandoned on base when he got out of the service and left Hawaii a few years ago. It runs like a scalded rabbit. That Marine left a folder full of receipts, mild cam, edelblock intake, new carb, new interior...the list goes on...mechanically other than sitting a few years it's in great shape. The rust however is overwhelming.

So, what I'd like to do is switch everything underneath. I know the K-frames are different, the later ones motor mounts are in a different place, beefier front suspension, etc. But will they just swap out, does it require any modifications? I've got access to all tools, but no knowledge these are my first Mopars... THANK YOU!

The easiest would be to take everything from the '74 (k-member, drive train, suspension, brakes, rear end, etc.) and put those on the '69. If both cars have power steering, you will be fine using the '69 steering column with the '74 steering gear.

Really appreciate this, while a bit of work it should be a pretty straight forward swap than? Are there any modifications I'd need to make to the newer K-frame or the 69 body?

Nope, they are the same. The scamp is a dart body with a duster front clip so you can use everything

It'll all bolt right in. Don't forget the rear axle, too.
THANKS! I'll start pulling the Scamp apart in the next week or two, clean up all the parts then start the actual swap - will keep folks posted and come back with questions as I get deep into it.
