69 dart rookies father son project

7.25 rear is good for a laugh. Do burnouts till she pops. If you cant find a good 8.25 or 8.75 then a narrowed ford 8.8 out of an explorer works well. Check out the sticky on the 8.8 swap on fabo. Narrowing it is actually easier than you might think. Only the left side needs shortened to center the pumpkin, then use a second RH axle in the left side. All of em has 31 spline axles, a mopar bolt pattern, disc brakes, and good ratios like 3.23, 3.55, 3.73, 3.90, 4.10, and most came with clutch type limited slips.

That’s awesome. Will totally look into that....any suggestions for front suspension and disc brakes?

What an awesome project! You and you're son are going to have a blast, everything you're teaching his is valuable knowledge that will help him with his future projects. Hopefully one day my kids will tackle a project like that with me.

Congrats, take lots of pictures and enjoy the ride!

Went shopping for a front left frame rail and inner fenders (just needed the top flanges) and came home with this deal. Left frame rails seem to be impossible to find....this new front clip has a small hole in the left frame rail but it’s in a spot we can graft a chunk from one of our rights and be as good as new!

Next comes the daunting task of getting everything in the right spot!!!

Looks great so far. Dont forget to reuse your upper radiator support crossbeam from the 69 dart, that has the vin number last 8 digits stamped on it. If the scamp cowl panel and plenum are in better shape rust wise than the dart sheetmetal I'd use those pieces as well.

Yeah. The cowl is mint!!! Gonna swap that out once the firewall and frame is secured.

I want to get a decent cowl panel myself. I repaired the one we have but theres always compromises, and I need to remove it to take care of minor rust in the lower plenum.

You need the upper it lower. Think there’s a few at national Moparts I saw while I was looking around.

To answer these there is the question of... Budget :poke:

You can get a front disc swap from numerous cars at the junkyard I got everything from an 88 diplomat (that I ended up not using).Pirate Jack makes pretty good kits that are inexpensive and use a lot of stock parts. More pricey but everyone loves the Wilwood Kits (even I do but it was out of my budget)

Front suspension again...Budget?
If leaving stock you can do a bushing rebuild kit (what I did). I purchased from PST, they are a vendor here and got the max kit for around 400 I think. Added front and rear sway bars and then KYB shocks all around. I think I came out at 800 for everything. For me this was best (and in my small budget) because my car is just a slurpee run can and weekend cruiser with the family.

Or you can go with a QA1 type suspension kit with bilstein or viking shocks that a lot of FABO members really like. Then a bigger budget gets you full independent suspension swap. These are pretty bad *** but also around 4k starting not including any fabrication work needed.

Found this on eBay. It’s way easier to use that the one in the mopar manual. We’ve got the new front clip mocked up and almost all the measurements check out....except the one circled in red. It’s 1/4” short. We put the hood and fenders back on and everything seems to fit really good...bit confused.

Initial pics of that car it looked really decent, under side not.

Man you two are doing great! Any big plans for the 360 or just a stock rebuild?

I'm sure happy that it's working out for you guys, and BTW, I love the color!
