Gotta be a SBP problem.
All of the BBP backing plates are interchangeable by axle. 7.25, 8.25, 8.75, even the Dana 60 can interchange BBP backing plates. Alaskan_TA mentioned the 8.25”, which means he must be thinking BBP because they didn’t make SBP 8.25’s.
So, to the OP, what bolt pattern 7.25 rear axle do you have?
Thats probably it. Thanks for the info, Tony, and 72BluNBlu!1960-72 7.25 backing plates are 4 bolt with a small diameter pocket for the axle.
73-up are 5 bolt, with the same pocket as all 8.25 and 8.75 housings.
I have the early style 10s for $25 each, if you need them.
