70 dart 470 ci drag car build.

Are you going to bend it back and try to recreate a lip? I want to finish mine similar to @Maxcustody Dart. Give it a little style.
I'm almost thinking of cutting it and just making a new lip, the inner wheel well is another thing to think about too because that has to be sealed up.
I'm going for the look like malex dart

Got to work on the removal of the inside tub for mini tub, I welded the trunk floor to the frame. I had to make a small relief cut in the pan so I could remove a bulge that was 1/4 inch from rail and 6 inches long. Doing the ss cut outs on the quarter panel really helped. I hope to get this side done by tomorrow.

I got a little more done today, nothing is really done, just chipping away till it's done.
Went at the undercoating with a torch and scraper. FYI that's the slow clean way. Fast dirty way is grinder and braided wire wheel.
After I cleaned and wiped down with lacquer thinner I cut some relief slits on the outer tub in order to push it out towards the quarter panel.
Had a oh **** kick back with the grinder in tight quarters...I always love that, After I finished that I gave the quarter panel a bunch of(strategically placed) cuts to bend in for a lip and surprisingly the metal bent straight.
I will make filler pieces for the inner tub and weld the tub to the quarter panel and leave 1/4 inch lip.

Hey @MidnightSwinger did you chop you quarter panels yet ?
Just fyi, super stock wheel wells are awesome in person
No, I’m on a family vacation this week, but as soon as I get back it’s next on the list. So you cut the fender a little shy of the template and then slit and rolled the fender in for the rest? It looks amazing.

Well bent at a 90 to be precise.
Have fun on vacation and thanks

I spent 5 hours removing .100 from both sides of the intake flanges to get the tunnel ram to sit in its proper spot with the bolts aligned and stuff like that. I then drove over to rat bastids to test fit it just to find out I need to surface another .030-.040 and somehow fix 1 corner.
After 50 hours of welding the warpage was extreme so squaring it up in the surfacer was a pain.
So before I take it back to finish the surfacing I am going to put a bit more aluminum in a couple spots to have more room for porting and future porting to max wedge.
Sorry no pictures today guys.

Did you take a ginger ale over to Tim.
How's he doing.

Oh yeah, I also have gotten called in to do jury duty for 2 weeks. One of the small town blessing

Okay guys I went ahead and went back down to work and took another .040 off each side on the tunnel ram and it works with .015 gaskets.
I now have a lot of porting to do ill post a picture of the before and after asap.
