That’s always been my worry and why I don’t port. I’m definitely in the “make **** heads” category. I’ll leave that to the professionals.

Sometimes it just happens. Old iron castings burned me many times. That’s one reason why I don’t do cast iron any more. Unless it’s a W2. I will still do those but I charge out the pooper for them.
Aluminum can be welded and I’ve used miles of welding rod to repair bad heads, broken heads and my occasional screw up.
You really can’t learn to port unless you do it, and if you do it long enough you will jack something up.
Most guys don’t have the stomach for it.
I was busier than crap back in 1996 so I roughed in my Pro Dominator intake and then paid one of my very best friends to finish it for me.
He got a little jiggy with it and put a small hole in the runners where they meet near the plenum.
He was damn bear in years when he told me. I laughed my *** off and grabbed some filler wire and tig’d it off.
No harm, no foul. But it bummed him out hard for a week.
