I have a '70 Duster that dies when you release the key switch to the on position. If you hold the key towards the start position it stays running. Am I correct that I have to replace the lock cylinder? In doing that I have to pull the steering wheel correct?

The car was running fine and only began doing this a couple of days ago.

Thanks

It is your ballast resister that is bad try that first its under the hood.
X2.....yup, it's the most likely.....and cheapest to replace. You should keep a spare in the glove box even if it's not the cause of the current problem.

Thanks for the heads up. It was indeed the ballast resistor. Saved time, effort and money by asking that question.
