727 in an early A

Since the 727 is physically larger than the 904, will it fit an early A without modifications to the car?

you'll have to pound over the seam where the floor meets the firewall.

I have to agree with Abodyjoe. I"ve tried it and got to the seam and didn"t want to hammer the seam, so I bailed and kept the 4 speed.

Yep you will have to bend over the seams to make her fit. I have had mine in since 1977 in my 64 Dart.

Really fits like a glove...

i didnt hammer mine when i installed the 340/727 in my 63 Dart.. but i took my grinder and grinded it down almost flush and then tacked it in a few places along that seem to ensure it didnt open up at anytime later.. was about 30 minutes of work..

What if someone were to put a flexplate/trans shield in there too. Anybody have any luck with that in an early A?

i have a trans sheild in my 63 dart and i had already built a bigger trans tunnel, then had to cut it out and rebuild it bigger to allow for the trans sheild..i wont fit in a factory tunnel..i dont care what the manfauctor say..it wont fit without modifications...
