O.K. I need help! When starting in drive my Cuda shifts first to second and second to third quite quickly. I have been shifting it on my own. I have tried adjusting the kickdown with very little change. Any help?/ I would be greatfull!

Does it shift later if you step on the gas harder? It should and if it does then you just need to adjust the Rod "Longer" so it simulates stepping on the Gas harder.

My 65 Newport has a 727 and it shifts into 3rd by ~15 mph if I don't floor it. I have a 4 barrel intake and Holley TBI, but the kickdown is the original 2 BBL, so may not be optimal.

I know the kickdown adjustment can make it shift much later since in my dumF kid days, I put a rebuilt carb on my 69 Dart and forgot the kickdown linkage, which was pushed back. It would shift to 2nd at ~30 mph with a big kick. I took it to Aamco and they found the problem and shook their head at the kid.
