Hey y'all. I was curious what the status is of someone making a SFI case for the 727 Torqueflite? Does any9one have one yet? After going months of backorder and false promises from CSR for their cover, I want to consider an alternate path.

COPE, had a video showing the fitment of his SFI case. So I'm assuming he has them.

I agree. My one and only phone call with John was not a good one. Very condescending and rude. I was curious if this is something just CRT developed or someone else and CRT was bringing it to market. It seems like the A-body racers don't have a good option for a scatter shield that fits under the stock floorboard. I have an old CSR shield currently and it's a pain to get the trans in and out as needed. I tried to buy a replacement, but CSR charged my card and never delivered the product. Short version, after months of months of not delivering and empty promises, I had to report them to my credit card company for fraud and luckily got my money back.

The case that John Cope is advertising is made by FI Performance. Couple years ago, FI approached A&A about investing in their case. Rick and Nick Allison agreed to get a case to see how it would fit and what modifications FI would need to make. The case didn’t fit what so ever and FI did not make any changes when they approached John Cope. After Cope posted a YouTube video about the case, Nick told me that FI did nothing to change the case. John did make his own modifications to the case and try make it better, according to his videos. But in my opinion, you are better off getting a blanket from A&A that are custom made to fit the 727 by DJ safety.

I personally wouldn’t invest in an SFI case even if it were available and I build a good bit of torqueflites. Put a billet drum, ultimate sprag, and low band apply valve body in your 727 and don’t worry about the case. Just my opinion.

It was always my gut feeling that CSR collected money until they had enough orders to make a run of product. I waited a good 5 mos for a 904 shield years ago that I ordered via summit. I started calling CSR direct and finally they came through and I got tracking from Summit. About that time a friend was looking for one also and he called direct to CSR and had his shield in a week.

Your experience with grumpy bear is not unprecedented…. but overall he’s an ok guy. Had credit card issue going on one time and he sent me parts I needed before payment was resolved…. I appreciated that. Of course the solid 904 band I ordered and a reinforced flex band showed up was a whole nuther story….

How do you pass tech at the track?
I have never had any track check for the trans shield, engine diaper, header tethers, anything other than dual return spring on carb, master disconnect switch, and sometimes neutral safety.
That ranges from a bunch of different tracks I race at in multiple states. Not saying it’s the right thing to do, but that shield isn’t stopping an explosion anyway. The intention is to put a trans blanket on it in the future, but I’m sure that will be useless when it hits the headers and melts lol.

It will never happen because no one is going to tie up a bunch of cash on a product they know won’t sell.

Chrysler guys are the cheapest around. They love to step over a donut to grab handfuls of dog ****.

Again, it won’t ever happen.

The flex plate sheild thing is also a big stupid non fitting piece of ****. If you run a mid plate and have to have a locking dipstick it a f'n mess, obviously designed for fenderwell headers, my tti's hit it on the passenger side.
I bought the blanket you mentioned, damn thing is probably going to need recert before I ever get a pass in the car lol (not). That blanket is very nice !! Flex plate sheild, very suck !!
Cutting a big hole for the transmission was the only way it was going to fit, I'm thinking I better just make it bigger for added clearance.

Can't be that cheap when our parts cost more than the others. But yeah, seems like people want to run a pop up toaster with air shifter instead of 727.
Which is whatever , do what they want.

Yup. Exactly.

And IF they want a 3 speed they use a GM turbo case because they’ve had those for decades now.

And the Chrysler guys suck hind tit. Again.

I believe the CRT project on that deal has completely stalled out due to the fitment issues. Certain that they are/would be manufactured in China or Taiwan (PRC).

I don't run super high output engine in my cars. My new W5 engine will be the most powerful that I've ever had. My TF904's have been bullet proof and deadly consistent. And ET wise I doubt that there's a automatic transmission out there that is quicker or faster. I'm sure that the guys that are running turbo charged and NO2 boosted engines making 2500 or more hp have to run a PG or Turbo 400 based transmission for the upgraded cases. But I don't look at my 904 as being a second class transmission. Because it reacts as fast and runs quicker that any other trans out there. Just MHO.

I agree. The TF is a better platform than the GM stuff.

Just by sheer volume the GM stuff gets used.

my 904 has been great. my car is not super fast like some out there but it holds its own.

you got that right, sheer volume wins

My experience with CRT, Cope , Cope racing transmissions, find another place to buy / work with .. got me for about $3000 .. heck it could be more, quit adding it up

I have been running 904s for over 40 years and only broke one ( my fault due to shifter out of adjustment ) The one in my Dart now has been in there since 2017 , I don't make big power either in mid 500 h.p range. I have a really good trans builder , he rollererizes them and as well as a few other tricks . He built me a complete ready to go spare a few years ago ... I haven't needed it ! I have a CSR shield I installed years ago and having it adds another hour to a trans or motor swap . It is out of certification but Its not required for my class and e.t. but I leave it in for safety.

His prices are astronomical, over $5k for a DIY trans kit. I ordered all the parts from A&A and had a guy a few hours away build me a solid trans and I only had $2200 into it.

Mine had 5 neutrals, leaked every ounce of fluid out as fast as you could put it in, stripped out bolt holes , mismatched poorly installed parts .. never moved 1 inch , tried to speak to him , he just hung up the phone on me..
