The first picture is not my car, but the only picture I could find of one trimmed out the same with the same color scheme. Mine was pretty rough when I got it for free with a blown up slant 6.
The second picture is when I first dropped the 440 in. '78 model RV engine. After sitting for awhile after I dropped it in, it started making bad internal noises, which I believe was from the lifters.
I tore it down, sent the pertinents to my cousin at the machine shop, and got a rebuild kit coming from Summit with 30 over forged Speed Pro pistons, moly rings, high volume oil pump, Comp Cams timing set, MP cam kit 241/485/108. I had already been using a pair of '65 383 heads with closed chambers. Had hardened seats installed for slightly larger exhaust, valves are now 208/174. Had the bottom end internally balanced. Rebuilt the carb. Added Summit distributor, new plugs, Taylor 8.2mm wires, MSD Blaster 2 coil. New fuel tank, and now am working on new fuel line in 1/2". Cam break-in is done, car has gone up and down the road a few times without glass in it.
Oh yeah, I think I paid $70 for the used Torker intake on ebay.
I have new window seals for front and back glass and I am now repairing the rust holes so I can put them back in, I am also in the process of dying and painting all the interior parts black. I added bucket seats out of about a '95 ford explorer and a B&M Z-gate shifter around which I intend to build a custom console, and I am going to add a new carpet kit when funds allow.
I got a 8 3/4 housing for cheap that came out of probably a E body by looking at the length, I had the perches narrowed for the Dart and I am running late model mustang wheels for the deep backspacing on the back and using wheel spacers with them on the front.
When funds allow I will be looking at Schumacher headers and about a 2500 stall converter.
Doing body work a little here and there when time allows. This has been going on way too long, it seems to keep getting harder to find time for it, I have had 2 kids since the project started. I am hoping to have the car road worthy and driving on a regular basis this summer.
