I’m wondering what the ET would be with a honest 730hp engine in a 2700 lb car? Car runs 9.70 @ 137 and 60’ is 1.29 with a 355” W2 engine.

How much faster would it be with 730hp?

debating if I put my bigger engine in my car over the winter or run the 355” for 1 more season.

FWIW, when I purchased my car the engine had been dynod by the previous owner and it made 750 on the dyno. Car weighed 2840lbs race ready. We got it to go 8.96 at 148mph after ditching one of the two batteries in the back so likely it was just a tick under 2800. And killer weather.

In good air it was a 9.0 car and in bad air it would run 9.20s.

I would say at 2700lbs race ready and 730hp it would definitely have the potential to be in the 8s. But that all depends on the cars setup. Very specifically the converter, rear gear, tire size, transmission, carburetor/dominator.

Car is set up pretty good. Ladder bars. Have most of the bugs figured out.

Converter should be fine at 5800 behind my 355”, 4.86 gear, 14/32 tire, 904, toilet on methanol.

I’m probably right about there….. been 9.09 and I think 147.8 is our high mph. 2970 race ready.

I knew I would end up with W8’s eventually. I’ve raced with W2’s for 15 years and now it’s time to take the next level with the W8’s.

I was thinking around 8.90-9.20 and 147-150.
My 60’ is 1.29 with the 355”, think 1.22 is possible with the bigger engine?

I’d expect it to be more around 1.24-1.26 in normal slow air. In good air ya I’d say 1.22-1.23. After you get the car out and see how it likes the new setup, I’m sure you’ll be tweaking and tuning to try to get the 60’ as good as it can be. But 1.22 is definitely not unrealistic.

you are close, really close. 1.23 60'. i made a few passes yesterday with the new combo. did lots of suspension tweaking to get it launching decent.

Nice work. I always use Wallace as a target for potential. Who really knows how accurate one's dyno is. Keep tuning and trying and updating us, of course.

no sticks on that??? I learned a hard lesson that way!
…..that said I haven’t run them my last two outings, but if I drop to near sea level they definitely get installed.

Oh ya! thats what I like to see. When they leave wheels up, its a fun time. Happy to hear you got er screamin.
thanks, it was a fun ride. went up nice and smooth and carried it 90' out.

nope lol car came down nice and smooth. DA was 3500'

Mine wheeled up like that in Tucson… it was the following week at Irwindale (55ft DA) where bad stuff happened. Air is good…..
