I purchase a 74 Dart sport with a 440 in it and when I bought it it had the wrong long tube headers and no oil dipstick.
The guy I bought it from told me the dipstick tube wouldn't fit with those headers and he plugged the hole with a piece of rubber hose and a screw.
I was told it has Schumacher swap mounts but now I can see them I don't think they are so my first concern is if the headers will fit with these mounts.
To add insult to injury one of the bolts holding the mount to the engine is put in backwards and can't come out unless I remove the oil pump, etc.
I purchased new Schumacher headers to go in.
On top of that it looks like the factory engine mounting bracket is in the way of the dipstick hole so what's up with that? Any suggestions?
Here is a picture of the problem.

As long as the bends are gentle enough for the stick to follow, you can tweak the tube to fit.

The thing is I bought the flexible dipstick tub that Schmacher sells and the shaft has an even bigger diameter than the stock tube.
How does anyone get these in there?

I had a whole 'nuther issue, (cheap Chinese oil pan didn't have the "bump out" for the dip stick). Luckily there was about 1/8" between the pan and the block rail. I shortened a stock dipstick tube, (maybe 6" long), and angled it just right so the stick would just shoot through the gap. Shorten the stick accordingly, and with the pan freshly filled with the correct amount of oil, use the level on the stick to re-mark it.

That would suck. :banghead:
This pan has been modified to hold more oil and you had me worried for a minute until I went and verified the bump is there.
