74 dodge dart steering column

G'day

I have a 74 dodge dart and I it has an auto steering column(?) In it.

Is it possible to remove the gear display section or do I need to replace the column?
I wanted to mount a digital dash but it will intrude a bit.

You can replace the column or convert it to a floor shift style.

Owners were whittling away the column shift features and correcting with some type of material like JB Weld long before the aftermarket offered conversion collars. Posts about it weren't exactly "How To". Just "look what I did' posts. I don't know if search would find those today.

I used to swap them out from other columns back before they started repopping the collars. Just buy the repops and be done with it, they are easy to install.
