All,

I'm upgrading my engine harness on my 74 duster, but the fender tag is missing I don't know the build date, and Bill Evans is telling me that there was a difference between models made before October '73 and after. Does anyone know the easiest way to tell the difference ? Bill mentioned that there should be a relay near the battery with 2 yellow a blue and brown wire, but the previous owner hacked the wiring pretty good and they all look black to me. Is there another way to tell ? I have a 74 wiring diagram from Classiccarwiring.com that doesn't show this relay.

Also, I'm installing a Summit RTR distributor and MSD blaster 2 coil to replace the chrystler electronic ignition. Does this mean I can yank the ICU and ballast resistor and just use the existing + on the coil to feed everything ?

The Year One HU11 1974 A-body "Engine & Forward Lamp" harness I have says "AFTER 10/12/73 ONLY!!". I don't know the reason, but that confirms Bill Evans info and pins down the date even closer. I am auctioning it on ebay as I write.

A couple sketchy ideas - change to dual ballast resistor?, key switch seat-belt interlock?, changes to AC clutch wiring like a pressure switch?
I know nothing about a relay near the battery, but also don't know 1970's cars well.
