Today is the 75th anniversary of Doolittle Raiders bombing of Tokyo. Only a little over 4 months after Pearl Harbor this group of exceptionally brave and selfless airmen made the initial attack on the Japanese mainland.
Truthfully, the didn't do much damage but the raid was both a huge psychological hit to the Japanese whose Emperor had promised that Japan would never be bombed, and a morale builder for our military and the American public
Today, only a single Raider remains: Richard Cole, 101, the co-pilot to Lt. Col. James Doolittle and crew no. 1 (front row right in the pic below).
Never forget what the "Greatest Generation" did for all of us.
