8 1/4 length

I pulled the old 7 1/4 from the Dart and found a 8 1/4 Suregrip... the 8 1/4 is 2" longer the the old rear. Question is can I make up the 2" with rim offset or will I need to cut the rear, I already have a RMS 4 link kit ordered

You can use an off set wheel if you can find the off set needed. Is the 8-1/4 an A body rear? If so, don't worry.

No I don't think its an A body rear...The housing is almost the same length as the old 7 1/4 but its the axles on the 8 1/4 that stick out farther....

Almost...the perches on the 8 1/4 are about a 1/2 " outboard of the 7 1/4 on each side
