Will a 8 1/4 rear end hold up to a 440 with 415 hp?

maybe, if you dont put any meaty tires on it. Probably be best to go with an 8.75.

with the price of a-body housings so high you may be better off having a c-body housing cut down.

Here,s what happens when you launch with slicks and 450hp with a 4 speed.With the 8 1/4 I,m lucky I had no damage to the car.Lesson learned,go 8 3/4 or Dana S60.Good Luck!

Stronger axles are available for the 8.25, that along with a cast cover with bearing supports and the axle is plenty strong.
