8.25 build

8-3/4 is twice as much to build. He'll a Dana 60 is cheaper to build. But I'm building my car light and racing with my 273 for awhile so I'm sure it will hold up to some 4speed launches.
If I have to build another, I'll probably go with a 9"!

strange 35 spline spool = $230

strange pro race 35 spline axle kit = $450
(kit includes 3 inch long 1/2in wheel studs, retainer plates, and green bearings)

strange pro gear = $285

Total of $965 plus shipping for a top notch brand. its not any worse.

now, if you had to go buy a Abody housing then you are correct.

thanks for the thread! I think its a cool thread and look forward to the rest of the build up!

Thanks for comments. My goal is to see how far into the 12s I can get with my 273. I know I'm not gonna be able to get a ton of HP and torque out of so little cubes so I'm thinking less weight and powertrain loss is my best bet. I'm also thinking my elevation for my local track should help some as well.(100ft above sea level I believe!) The 8-1/4 is lighter, how much not sure? But it all adds up. I kinda jumped over to building my headers right now so I've had no progress on my 8-1/4. I've got about 4months to get headers, mini tub, and rear end done for some track time.
