originally had 10 inch brakes on my 68 dart. decided to go disc in the front so i want to upgrade rear. found backing plates for 2.5 inch brake shoes. does anyone have any experience with yukon axles. 4.5 inch bolt pattern 28 inches and half the price of the others.? thank you so much, hate to order something that wont work.

If you have the sure grip with two piece side gears the Yukon 28" axles don't extend far enough into the inner piece. If you have the cone style sure grip or another style the Yukon axles are fine.

Cass...can set you up whether you have a sure grip...posi...or spool....or one wheel burner..

he will need to know if you are using A body or B body backing plate as the offset are different in the axles...

thanks everyone, did more research. have a stock 489 a body axle posi. backing plates are from a b body as are the drums. 2.5 inch shoes did not seem to fit the 10 inch a body backing plates, not enough anchor. will 28 inch replacement axles work this set up?all this to change from 4 to 4.5 inch/ will call dr. diff today

I have the 28'' Yukon axles, B body 2 1/2 shoes, backingplates, drums. All in the 70 A body 8 3/4 housing. You will be fine using a 489 case. I used Cass's 1 piece side gears in the 742 case. All works fine.Decals on the Yukon axles were remover in the picture.
