8.75" Diff Housing: Paper Gasket only, or add RTV?

-
So all done. I will check for leaks this weekend.

I installed one bottle of gear lube. Anyone know how many is needed?

What did you decide about gaskets and sealant? As you can see there are many different trains of thought, all of which seem to work.

You fill it until the level is flush with the bottom of the fill hole or just drools out. If it is a sure grip be sure to add a bottle of sure grip friction modifier, available from the Chrysler dealer.

I put in one bottle of 80 90 for limited slip. I was told I don't need an additive.
Is that not the case?

How many bottles should I get? I have one in there already.

Oh, and thank you all for the many different opinions that confused me, lol. Honestly, thanks. I used paper and that adhesive Gasguchi

Yes, in my opinion you need the additive. Without it you will likely notice chattering from the clutches when cornering.

I think it takes about 2 1/2 containers of lube plus the additive, you need to buy three.

You need additive with the oil you used. You don't need it with synthetic. I've done several 8-3/4's and usually 2 qts in and it's running out of the plug.

EDIT: I didn't see the "limited slip" on the bottle when I typed the reply above. Should be ok without an additive.

That lube may have friction modifier already in it. If so, there's no need for the additive.

2 quarts is all you need. It does not need to be running out the filler hole, nor is that recommended.

Use gasket and RTV, but just a slight coat of it. No leaks yet.

Manual says to fill the rear end to 1/2" below the fill hole (capacity is 4pts, or 2 quarts)

I used 80W90 that says it's got the additive in it already, but also added one of the small bottles of Mopar limited slip additive. No issues yet, hooks up great, no chattering on corners.

Are the paper gaskets you're referring to the ones on the ends of the axles that go around the studs that mount the axle in the housing? I got them from my local parts store. They're actually two pieces. A foam gasket and a thin metal gasket. I don't recall the price, but they were pretty cheap.
