No do not drive the car without the kickdown hooked up(you will fry the trans)Get yourself a Lokar kickdown cable and set accordingly for proper shifting.

wire it back if you need to get to the hospital....but dont drive it without some sort of linkage. No sensed throttle position by the trans will cause all shifts to be long and drawn out like it was lumbering down the road with grandma at the wheel, even at 5500! And that will roast your clutches and bands fast.
