904-G trans kick down

Hi, we just put webber carb on slant six with this trans. Can car be driven without kick down working? Will it damage trans? If you down shift manually when in 3rd and going slow and want to pick up speed quickly be ok for a while? Thanks

Driving the car without the kickdown connected, will burn up the trans. If you absolutly have to drive it, tie the kickdown lever on the trans, back about half way. It won't shift properly, but it won't ruin the trans. Then fix it correctly ASAP.
There are several cable kickdowns available, or you can fabricate your own, from a motorcycle/bicycle brake/clutch cable.
