904 splines query

Hey all,
First post!

Looking at buying this SB 904.
Will be put behind a fairly stout combo, rebuilt with a CRT DIY kit most likely, for max strength.

Photos show the condition of the splines.
Is that to be expected and ok?
Or should I stear clear and keep looking?

input shaft or stator? based on the pic, as best as i can see, i would use them but would upgrade the pump gears to the later style gear set. duster346 may have the upgraded gear set.

i guess i am not seeing what you are asking about. for these 74 year old eyes, both look fine to me.

All depends on how much HP and torque they are going to be seeing and what you will be doing with it. Keep in mind that those splines ain't virgins anymore.

Yeah probably in the 500-600 hp range so will be getting a full rebuild.
If the splines are ok with that, then it will be a good buy.
