Just put a used 904 in a car. Doe's kick down linkage have to be installed for the trans to work ?

It'll destroy the trans.
If you have NO way of connecting it up, at least tie the lever back about half way if you need to drive it.
It'll shift weird (late at low R's and early at Higher R's), but at least it won't burn it up.

for it to work correctly yes....kick download linkage should be changed to Throttle Pressure Linkage...it controls the pressure in the clutch pac....

as you step on gas...and linkage moves back....it increases line pressure in clutch pac....no linkage no increase in line pressure...burn up clutch pac..

...........if ur asking if it will drive forwards or backwards without the kd linkage the answer is yes............just don't drive it without the kd hooked up and adjusted properly............kim........

No, not at all. But it wont "work" for long......will it work "properly" with no kickdown? Absolutlely not. Hook it up or wire it back to move it.
