Alright so I have a 91 roller 360 block that I am now blueprinting. I am looking for about 450-500 crank HP (75% street/25% strip). Because of my budget I am going to have to use my stock 308 heads for a few months(dont want to settle with a weak bottom end). The cam I pick needs to be able to work with the stock heads and rocker arms only for a short time. Edelbrock heads and a new set of roller rockers will be in the making as soon as funds arrive. I want somewhere around 10.0-1 comp with the edelbrocks. Im going to bolt on the thickest head gasket i can find when im using the stock heads to lower it down a bit. Which cam should I use?

End goal is:
.040 overbore
edelbrock alluminum heads 63cc
Eagle H-Beam rods
forged pistons (not sure which brand)
factory windage tray
stock crank
RPM airgap intake (already have)
holley/demon 750 carb
edelbrock alluminum water pump
HV oil pump
carter fuel pump
and thats all i can remember off the top of my head

Stock rockers will most likely limit you. I'd buy rockers and put them on the 308 heads since those are a shaft style. Run beehives if you can for rocker clearance.

I'd run a hyd roller something with ~228-232 at .050 and .540 lift, 106-108 installed CL, after swapping the heads or putting rockers on the stockers. Should be a decent deal with the ede heads. Be better if the ede's have some clean up work on them.

Just buy the good parts from the get go. You're dabbling in false economy by putting money and parts in to the 308s, none of which will swap to the Eddy heads down the road. Springs different installed height than Eddys 1.68" vs. 1.8", different locks and retainers, 308s will need spring seats machined and guides cut down, pushrods different style ends and length. You'll also want to have the 308s magnafluxed for cracks they are very prone to cracking, I just weeded out a cracked one today. Heck by the time you got all this done, you'll most likely have the funds together for the Eddys anyhow.

I'd talk to Hughes for a cam. Heads and rockers also.

Yeah I thought that might be the case. I was actually hoping to just use the stock heads, springs, and lifters just so I could get back on the road. If it has to sit another 5 months then it will.
