I pulled a 360 out of a 91 B250 last fall and while breaking it down this morning I discovered that had a windage tray and a double roller timing chain set .
Was this normal ?

I just tore down the top end of a 89 360 out of a D250. It had the double roller timing set, but it looked wimpy. Much smaller than my 340 timing set if my memory serves me correctly. I haven't gotten to the oil pan off or too the bottom end yet as I have to aquire another engine stand. (Right quick).

BTW, you engine looks to be the same nasty oily dirty mess mine is. What shiitttty job, wish I would have hit it with the pressure washer earlier this fall when it was warmer outside.

Mine also did not have an oil slinger or the tab that bolts to the cam retainer plate.

Yes, higher output 360 with 308 high swirl heads. They're a good foundation for a respectable LA build.

I would be interested in what the actual cam spec grind numbers are on that factory '91 360 roller engine camshaft? I see it is a short snout roller cam, not suitable for the fuel pump eccentric.

If it has anything more than .400 lift?

I have seen the larger 2 barrel mid rise TBI intake manifolds that they came with. Big Plenums on those.

If that has the newer magnum style oil pickup that looks like a kid's trumpet, I'd swap it out for an old school one from "pre 80's" or etc

Yes I have a 350 Dodge van I showed in another post that we use on vacation. But I initially got it for the overdrive transmission and HD 360 it is an LA roller variety. I want to build it but I just haven't been able to sacrifice the van at this point.

Didn’t notice the cam . Was hoping it was a long snout . Timing cover had a fuel pump block off so I hoping ….

That is a long nose cam, I have yet to see an LA roller with the short snout- only on Magnums. They did use a special deeper bell washer under the cam bolt to make up for the lack of a fuel pump eccentric, though. You'll have to swap that one out for a normal LA washer if you choose to run a pump eccentric, but it is totally capable of running one.
360 roller cam specs are .410/.417 lift, 249/269 duration, on a 109* CL.
The LA318 roller actually had a slightly hotter grind, .432/.432 lift, 251/264 duration, on a 113* CL.

Compare the LA roller cam bolt and washer

to a standard LA cam bolt and washer

There's a substantial difference in depth to make up for the lack of an eccentric on the roller motor, but it's still a long nose cam.

@Professor Fate
Thanks for the LA roller cam specs.

This is interesting on the LA 318 Roller Cam specs.

Getting close to the 340 cam spec numbers of:
430/444
268/276

My '89 Truck has the 318 roller cam with the long snout and came with the eccentric and fuel pump block off plate.

Scoots along real nice with the added 1406 4 bbl, and the factory roller cam.

Very happy with the output of that stock roller cam engine, and not having to go out and buy a special roller cam for the 4 bbl upgrade.

Yes, those cams are actually not bad little pieces- especially for factory specs. Lots you can do with them before you need to consider cam replacement in a streeter.
I run one of the LA318 roller cams in the 5.9 Magnum in my Dakota- with the little kick in the shorts that the Magnum's 1.6 rocker ratio gives it, she defends her honor quite nicely.

Looking like the stock '91 LA360 roller cam grind is closer to the earlier 360 2 barrel camshaft grind.
