C'mon down! I'm about 40 min from the Garlits facility over toward the Gulf coast.

Clever. You have a real answer?
inflation isn't that stuff cost more it that the dollar is worth less
so the more money the government prints the less the dollar is worth ....its great when you own something ,sucks when your buying
the real dollar value is when you compare to gold when gold is 3k an ounce the dollar isn't looking good
so if you can devalue the dollar then the dollar you owe is worth less ,its a tricky game that only a few win at
think of it. if you have a mortgage for 100k (think what the government owes) for 10 years at 5% you pay back $$$$$ now if you figure in inflation and its at 10% you are making 5% 0n your 100k every year (that thing that bought is worth more too) not sure if i explained that well .....when the government prints money and spends alot the value goes down so they print more so the dept is worth less ,so the dept goes up ,so they print and borrow more......
so if you really want to know about inflation look at interest rates its how the rich get richer and the poor stay poor

Here's my 1995 picture. That's my 65 Valiant that I had a really hot 360 in, stout 904 with a 3800 converter and 4.30 gears in an 8 3/4. That's my friend's 71 528 wedge Cuda next to me. 528, his home made 1500 CFM six pack, 13.5:1 compression, .780 lift solid roller, Franklin quick change rear and 833 4 speed. This was a cruise in at a local barbecue joint in Macon.

Thanks. It was a cool car. Never lost a street race.....ahem....uhh......if I wouldda decided to do such a thing. In fact, the few times we pulled along side each other, I left that Cuda like it was goin backwards.....however, it was only because he was not built for hooking up and drag. Mine was. SS springs and the whole bit. Had John had a different rear suspension, that thing wouldda blowed me out the tail pipes. John's like 90 now, but he still has that Cuda and still drives it on occasion.

Part of what you said takes you down more than one rabbit hole & some seems jumbled oft repeated distractions. But the two phases at the end boil it down to the essence & point the right direction

If you venture out of the mopar world, late 90's and early 2000 sn95 mustangs can be bought for prices not much more than what is being talked about in this thread for early 1990's mopar. That's a rust free car that runs and drives. The problem for us mopar fans is that nothing has been has been made since 74 that gathers much attention by mopar fans. With what's been wrecked and rusted, the law of supply and demand for old mopars has kept prices rising.

Yeah the 76 road runner was kinda cool
And magnums but they where slow and didn't bring the bad boy image
84 my Daytona turbo was cool
But fwd and 130hp doesn't have the following maybe a Shelby might be worth a few dollars but still a k car...so I'm really saying 72 was the last of the greats ..after that emissions killed them all

Mustangs are still a really good bang for the buck and tons of aftermarket support.
I like the fox body 79-93, the SN95 is a great platform too, but the S550 and S650 are very strong performers for the $$.

Yeah that's the next car that will be the collector......lots of good stuff from the 2000s
Its the 80 to 90s that left a hole

1982. Just painted it. A gallon of Ditzler acrylic lacquer was about $33, if I recall.

Bought that car when I was 18, drove it every day for ten years. Damn thing never failed to start.

Still have it. Found the build sheet a few years ago. It's an original LS-6 car (I never had that engine in it). Guess I shouldn't have installed power steering and thrown out that old manual box, or cut the firewall to install A/C, or put a pair of Pontiac buckets in in place of the bench seat. Or left the original radiator, which leaked like a sieve, in a garage in an old house.

But it was just a car then, y'know?

Still the best $550 I ever spent.

And, yeah, I'm that old guy who's "gonna restore it one day."

Of course there were others, but this is the only one where I have a photo handy.

Just read an article today about the supercharged Terminator Cobra from that era, the rarity (19,000) from 2 years of production, and speculating that the values will start climbing sharply in the near future. Particularly the 40th anniversary cars in Mystichrome paint.
