The charts that I see Show the dimensions for 66 to 72 -- then 66 to 73 only shows perch to perch, the same at 43", doesn't show other dimensions. -- The 73 chart mentions that the bolt pattern, in 73, is now 5 X 4.5"' --- My Question is -- are all A- Body rears 66 to 73 the same, Except the bolt pattern ?

this is a stock abody 8 3/4.

8 3/4" axle shaft lengths measured from the tip of the splined end
to the outside of the flange:

A BODY
'66-'72= 27 11/16"

Housing widths, flange to flange

A BODY
'66-'72= 52 5/8"

Rear end widths, drum-to-drum:

A BODY
'66-'72= 57 1/8"

Spring perch widths (center-to-center)

A BODY
'66-73= 43"

.

I am not knowledgeable about pre-67, but the 67-76 A bodies share the same rear clip dimensions on the frame rails, and can use any A body rear end without an issue. This includes the 7-1/4" used on non-performance models (which I believe were 4" on all a bodies through 76?). The performance models used the 8-3/4" 5x4" until 72 and the 8-1/4" 5x4.5" 73 and up. Of course the driveshaft lengths will be different.
