Hi,
I know this subject has probably been beaten to death but does anybody know where I can find a reasonably priced small ball joint socket? I've been searching eBay, looked on Amazon, and did general internet searches but all I can seem to come up with is a $45 to $50 socket from Mancini Racing. I'm trying to fix up an old Dart on a budget and hate to spend a lot of money on tools I'll probably rarely use. Anyone have any good ideas?

Start a wanted thread. Someone may have one.

Rent a tool from the parts store.... or sacrifice and weld a socket to it...1/2 drive and use a breaker bar.

Try these numbers on eBay. Mac SC52, Proto 6549L and Snap on S6302 or S6302a. These are for the small ball joints used from 1962 thru 1972 on the Valiant and the Dart.

Make one out of a 1 1/2 inch 12 pt 3/4 drive socket and modify it like this

I guess I'm in the minority. I think 50 bucks for a quality ball joint socket is a good deal. Throw it in the toolbox. If you need it again, there it is. Tools are what separated us from animals. And some of them even use them. I've never understood the "buy it for one time and sell it" or the "buy the cheapest POS I can find" mentality. I'm all for a bargain, but a total craptastic socket on the end of a three foot breaker bar ain't something I want to BREAK when I am pulling full force. Just something to think about.

I agree with Rusty I own all 3 sizes of ball joint sockets for Mopar’s and am glad I bought all of them.
I see there are some suggestions for you to get what you need

I ended up getting a Proto 6549L on eBay for a little under $20.00 based on the part numbers townsend posted. I had to search the part numbers because the person listing the socket apparently had no idea it was a Mopar thing, they must've just bought a bunch of tools at a yard sale or auction and listed them. Anyway, I got what I needed and should get it today. I'll find out tonight if it is the right socket or not.
Thanks for all the input.

While you guy's are on the subject, what size is the small vs large? I have a 1 3/4 inch. Need to know what to ask these guys for I need both. Like you said, they don't know what they have. Jeff

I just picked up the Mancini MOPAR kit. It comes with both the large and small sockets.

Measure your BJ flat to flat and have the seller confirm the socket measurements.

Since I have started this post have received one Matco SPS32 but need the SPS33 as well. Sorry I did not call Mancini sooner. Like said earlier, the website needs more detail on products.
