Is there any reason that a 1980's SB Truck 727 would not work in a 69 Barracuda?
Plan would be to run it behind a G3 Hemi.
Thanks!

Should fit just fine. Mopar upgraded the 727 internals over the years so the newer the better in most cases. I have one from a 1978 3/4 ton truck in my road runner. It could be a lock up converter which you may or may not want- but other than that most people cant tell the difference from a 1966 to a 1986 from looking at one.

Thanks, The ID shows that it came with a lock up converter. Does that mean I have to run it with a lock up converter? Why wouldn't I want to. Wouldn't that would help mileage? Have not had a Mopar with an Auto since the 1980's... Last one I bought was a Cheetah Reverse Valve Body Manual shift. Banged the gears really well. it would eject cassette tapes shifting 1st to 2nd! :)

On a street car I would use the lock-up for sure.

I'm using a non lock up 727 from a 1987 b350, fit right in.

In the mid to late 80's the 1 ton D 350's didn't come with lock up .Maybe Dodge didn't think they would hold up at the time. My 88 D 350 doesn't have it.Another little bit of info...The 79 Chrysler 300 was the last performance "B" body with the high output E-58 360,, it too didn't have a locking converter 727.

Very few 727's were lockup. I rebuilt a 727 out of a buddies 90 Ram 1 ton with a Cummins and it wasn't even a lockup. From everything I've read they only made them for a couple yrs. around 79-80 give or take a year or two
